Poudre River Mural Unveiled at Chappelow Arts Magnet School

Last night we were honored to join Armando Silva and 8th grade students from Chappelow Arts Magnet School to unveil the Poudre River Mural! This community-based, collaborative project melded science and art to create a beautiful mural that will be enjoyed by the community for years to come. We started planning for this project in January. To see it finally completed and hanging at Chappelow brings us a lot of joy! We have learned so much from working with Armando, the students and their incredible teacher, Mrs. Myers.

Over the summer and fall of 2023, students from Mrs. Myers’ art class worked with Armando to design and paint the mural. The design process started with several in-class workshops and a field trip to the Poudre Learning Center. Following this hands-on and interactive trip to the Poudre River, students continued working with Armando to design and paint a mural that represents their connection to the river and their community. We look forward to sharing this collaborative, community-based art project with you.

Thank you to Armando Silva, the Poudre Heritage Alliance, the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB), Greeley-Evans School District 6, and the Poudre Learning Center for supporting this project.
