Crystal Lakes Curbside Slash Pickup Pilot Program
This grant-funded pilot offers a low-barrier way for residents of Crystal Lakes to remove self-generated woody material while testing a workflow that may lead to similar community events in the future.
Program capacity: the first 50 REGISTERED and CONFIRMED participants
You stack 1–5 piles per participant
We haul, no cost to participants
Must be a resident of Crystal Lakes
Dates and operational details may shift if contractor scheduling or field conditions require changes. Registered participants will receive updates.
What Is Eligible?
Each participant may prepare 1–5 piles prior to registration.
Each pile must be 5 ft x 5 ft x 5 ft or smaller
Natural woody slash only
Branches and trunks must be clean and less than 12 inches in diameter
No garbage, construction debris, treated lumber, root balls, or other non-woody material
Do not move piles to the roadside until you have completed registration and received confirmation
Important Dates
July 20 - Registration opens at 9:00 am
Register 1 – 5 piles. DO NOT move piles to the roadside until registration is confirmed. DO move piles to the roadside as close to August 13 as possible
August 13 - Registration closes at 9:00 am, or when 50 participants are confirmed
August 14-16 - Volunteer verification of confirmed participants
Volunteers will flag piles that meet requirements; we may contact you if adjustments must be made.
August 17-26 - Contracted curbside chipping and hauling
Some hauling may need to take place the week of August 24
Field Verification
Volunteers will visit registered addresses August 14–16 to confirm that piles are present and meet program requirements. Eligible piles will be flagged for contracted hauling the week of August 17.
Unregistered or ineligible material will be left in place and will remain the property owner’s responsibility.
