Join the Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed (CPRW) and Larimer Conservation District for a tour of a stream restoration project on Elkhorn Creek.
Learn about process-based restoration techniques that are improving habitat, reconnecting floodplains and encouraging the return of beavers to the landscape. Explore active stream restoration projects on Elkhorn Creek in the Red Feather Lakes area.
Event Schedule:
8:30am: Meet at Ted's Place; Drive to Drala
9:30am: Tour Drala Mountain Center site - Learn about stream restoration on this property.
11:00-11:30am: Drive to the Boy Scout Ranch
11:30am-12:30pm: Enjoy lunch & learn about stream restoration work within an active beaver meadow
12:30-1:30pm: Tour restoration site
1:30-2:30pm: Drive back to Ted's Place
Please meet the group at Ted's Place (6511 US-287, Laporte, CO 80535) at 8:30am. From here we will consolidate vehicles and drive to our first stop at the Drala Mountain Center (151 Shambhala Way, Red Feather Lakes, CO 80545). We will return to Ted's Place by 2:30pm.
Dress appropriately for the weather with layers, close-toed shoes, hat, sunscreen, rain jacket, etc.
Please bring plenty of water, snacks and your own lunch.
